Sally Swan, LAc
Sally Swan has been a proponent of natural medicine for her entire adult life. Her dual pathways as clinical laboratory scientist and medical practitioner have only deepened her fascination with the body’s ability to heal itself. Participating in that process is truly a gift and something she enjoys every day.
As an adjunct faculty member at the National College of Natural Medicine, she has sought to bring the analytical side of medicine together with the natural healing philosophies of East and West, helping students understand how to combine them in their future careers. She received her undergraduate degree from Kent State University in Biology and Chemistry, and her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
When she’s not working, Sally enjoys hiking Oregon and biking around town with friends and family. Discovering new and amazing things with her three-year-old grandson is especially fun and full of surprises.
As a practitioner, she has volunteered for several years at a local clinic for low-income patients, and with the Portland Veterans’ Acupuncture project, treating veterans for PTSD and other injuries related to their combat experience. Utilizing acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, and shiatsu, some of the goals she works on with her patients are:
-
Healthy aging
-
Emotional well-being/Stress reduction
-
Freedom from musculo-skeletal aches and pains
-
Rapid Recovery from infections and injuries
-
Women's health
-
Improved digestion
