Jamie Fields, ND
As a Naturopathic Physician, I practice integrative family medicine. I am passionate about pelvic floor therapy, women's health, physical medicine, and chronic disease management. I work in partnership with my patients, educating and assisting them to achieve their optimal health. Rather than just treat and suppress symptoms, I assist each patient to address and remove their obstacles to cure. While this often means lifestyle changes with gradual results over time, I am also aware of the need for acute and aggressive treatment options when necessary.
My journey toward medicine started at Indiana University where my love of health and fitness led me to study exercise science and kinesiology. After graduation, I became the Aquatic and Fitness Director of a local YMCA in southern Indiana. While I look back fondly on this experience, often describing it as the perfect job right out of college, I knew medicine was my ultimate passion. I joined WebMD Health Services as a Health Educator to gain experience talking to thousands of people across the country about their health concerns. I soon learned about Naturopathic Medicine and moved to Portland six months later to begin training at the National College of Natural Medicine.
In my third year of medical school, I met Tami Kent, PT during a lecture on the Wild Feminine and female pelvic floor therapy. I immediately registered for her training workshop and became certified as a Holistic Pelvic Care™ Provider. Holistic Pelvic Care became the bridge between my old life in health and fitness and my new life in medicine. After graduation, I completed a six-month naturopathic residency position which focused on osteopathic and chiropractic manipulation techniques for the body. I have integrated the various techniques into a model of pelvic floor therapy that is gentle, powerful, and incredibly healing.
I grew up in Marion, Indiana. I am grateful for my childhood in the midwest, however I consider myself at home in the Pacific Northwest. I have discovered my love for backpacking, gardening, and the great outdoors since moving here and plan to continue living my dream of having fun, loving life, laughing as often as possible while empowering others to do the same.
