Lorinda Sorensen, ND

Dr. Lorinda Sorensen grew up near the Pilchuck river in Washington, spending time observing the wonders of nature. As a young child, an injury to her hand resulted in many visits to various doctors at the University of Washington. Those visits were challenging, but because they were so frequent with pediatric doctors, enjoyable. When she became a young adult and started looking for a primary care physician, her experience was vastly different, she felt disrespected, and it was so rushed. This is when she first started thinking about becoming a naturopathic doctor, and she then went to Bastyr University where she received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Master of Science in Acupuncture, and Bachelor of Health Sciences.

Dr. Sorensen is a licensed Naturopathic Physician and has practiced in Washington state, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and New Zealand, where she also worked in the natural health products industry. She offers primary care services and has a keen interest in women’s health, hormone health conditions, including diabetes and thyroid conditions, digestive health and gastrointestinal disorders, and support for healthy aging. Her goal is to listen and really hear patients' stories, empower them in their journey to health, and be their true selves.

She teaches at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and is a former professor at National University of Health Sciences in Illinois, where she taught classes in naturopathic philosophy, endocrinology, and women’s health, but her students' favorites were her botanical medicine classes which she taught for over 10 years.

In her spare time, Dr. Sorensen constantly seeks time and adventure in nature, by hiking, foraging for herbs and fungi, and working in her herb garden. She adores her rescue border collie Lily and relaxes reading science fiction novels.
